ABOUT AMERICA SINGS! Founded in 1988, America Sings! Inc. is a non-profit, charitable corporation that creates large, non-competitive choral music festivals and special events featuring school and community singing groups from across the United States. Designed for young people who love to sing and dance with their choirs, America Sings!'s unique combination of song and service inspires them to use their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of others.
There are America Sings! events for choirs of every age, size, shape and style! All ensembles are invited to register! There is no adjudication and no audition process required to participate. Every choir goes home a winner!
Often, participating choral groups perform their own concert at America Sings! Other singers and the public are invited to watch this variety of choir concerts in a noncompetitive and supportive environment.
Always, participants
have the opportunity to participate in music workshops
Prior to coming to an America Sings! event, the participating ensembles are encouraged to do volunteer service projects in their own hometowns. Choruses work in soup kitchens and shelters, help with local clean-up programs and perform benefit concerts to raise funds and goods for charities in their communities. Particular emphasis is encouraged for the support of charities assisting homeless, underprivileged and at-risk children. Always, events include an exciting Massed-Choir Finale experience with all the participating performers singing together! This Massed-Choir Finale celebrates the choirs' music and their community service and is directed by America Sings! founder, choreographer-arranger-music educator John Jacobson. The America Sings! motto: To kids who feel they have no hope...from kids with hope to share. |
